8 Students Among 16 Cultists Arrested During Initiation In Ogun


Another eight student cultists have been arrested by the Ogun state police command one week after a cult initiation ceremony was busted in Delta state.

No fewer than 8 students of the ICT Polytechnic, Itori, Ogun state were arrested after police crashed a cult initiation ceremony in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the State.
Officers of the Ogun State Police Command in a Saturday raid arrested the students alongside 8 other suspected cultists.
They cultists were conducting initiation rituals for new members at their hideout located in Itori town.
According to the the command’s Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, the arrests were made by a team of officers led by Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ewekoro Division, around 9.45 p.m.
The suspects are Akintunde Paul, Seyi Meshinoye, Fowoshade Gbemisola, Dare Olabode, Oyetayo Bolaji, Akintunde Femi, Ajibola Abiola, Amosun Eniola, Shola Ogunniyi, Fashina Micheal, Bello Oyedeji, Adeshola Amore, Ebi Victor, Ogunsola Ibrahim, Babatunde Allyson, and Awobajo Babatunde.
Adejobi added that the  suspects, who declined to mention the cult group they belong to, were arrested with several incriminating evidence including  guns, charms, machetes, axes and other dangerous items.
The suspects have been transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation Eleweran Abeokuta for further interrogation as directed by the Commissioner of Police Ikemefuna Okoye.
This arrest is coming barely a week after Onyema Collins, a graduate of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT)  Enugu, Emmanuel Iwezue, a final year Microbiology Student of the Anambra State University (ANSU)  and Isaiah Abuke, attached to Owa-Oyibu Divisional Police Headquarters in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State were caught during a similar initiation ceremony in Abavo, Delta State.
Also, Student Pulse reported on Friday that  two student cultists of the Federal Polytechnic Offa (FEDPOFFA) were paraded by Police in Kwara State for kidnapping a 23-year-old woman, Temilayo Owoeye.
