At least 32 killed in Morocco building collapse

Casablanca - Two buildings collapsed on Friday in the Moroccan city of Casablanca, leaving at least three people dead and 26 wounded, medical officials said.

The incident occurred in Casablanca's Bourgone district before dawn when people in this mostly Muslim country were having their meal in preparation for a new day of fasting in the holy month of Ramadan, witnesses said.

A five-floor building, where a sixth floor was illegally being constructed, tumbled and flattened a neighbouring apartment block, the witnesses added. There was no official comment.

Rescuers were removing rubble in search of survivors.
